Siteground Review

SiteGround is one of the top web hosting companies in the market today. They offer an extensive list of services to choose from – shared hosting, cloud hosting, and dedicated servers. Their data centres are located securely in Chicago, London, Amsterdam, and Singapore – making them an excellent choice for people from nearly every part of the world.

Founded in Bulgaria, SiteGround has always remained independent and did things their own way – no interference from any international organizations.

The corporation hosts over 500,000 domains worldwide and is recommended by many different blogs and forums. It is officially recommended by, not many hosting providers can say that!

Reliability & Uptime

As of 2018, SiteGround had 99.99% of uptime, which is way above their uptime guarantee of 99.90%.

From the tests and the customer reviews, it can be safely concluded that SiteGround won’t let you down. One of their servers had a response time over 300ms, which is impressive. But what really makes them stand apart is that almost every one of their servers have a very even performance worldwide. The slowest one of their servers way only at 223ms, and rarely have they ever been down.

Add to that, they also have custom security solutions for all websites hosted with them. These security features protect owners from hackers, DDOS attacks and more. In the event that your website is hacked, or is experiencing any other type of problem, you can get it addressed immediately either through one of their self-help or automated services. If neither of those work, then there is always a skilled technician available.

Features & Add-Ons

10GB disk space is their entry-level plan, which is okay, but their other plans only provide 20GB-30GB disk space, other competitors have offered far more as you level up. If your priority is storage, other providers can offer more for a lesser price.

The first thing you will notice when you sign up for their hosting is that they provide excellent initial support. In addition to just configuring your server, they will help you set up a WordPress or Joomla website to get you started right away.

SSL certificates are included in all plans – and the one you’ll be getting with a GoGeek is also PCI-compliant, meaning you will be able to sell online and process credit card transactions. Daily backups are also included. In terms of DDoS protection, each plan includes CloudFlare CDN. SiteGround makes increased security easily accessible for everyone. It is also worth noticing that every plan is using SSDs. This shows that SiteGround servers are up-to-date with the latest technology.

SiteGround includes managed WordPress hosting on all accounts, something that other web hosts don’t.

Support/ Customer Service

SiteGround offers 24/7/365 technical support by phone, email, ticketing, and live chat. Their customer service is satisfying, well, considering that they employed over 230 people just for support, this comes as no surprise. They even offer their support in three languages – English, Spanish and Italian -with a fast response rate.

Based on customer reviews alone you can tell that a lot of them agree that it is one of the company’s key strengths. On their website, the ‘Support’ menu is SiteGround’s attempts to guide you to the best possible customer service option.

Their price plans are not the lowest on the market, but they are still very much affordable, considering the level of service you will get. Even for entry-level hosting services.

Even if you decide to level-up our plan, the price difference is barely noticeable and yet comes with much more advanced features than other web hosting providers.

Included in SiteGround packages are three plans to choose from:

StartUp – regular one-website plan with basic SSL, CloudFlare CDN, and daily backups.

GrowBig – a medium-sized unlimited website plan with added protection, priority customer support, SuperCacher for increased website speed and free website transfer.

GoGeek – the biggest shared hosting plan available offers more power per user, Git repository creation, staging, and increased eCommerce capabilities.

With the GrowBig and GoGeek plans, you will get 20% and 30% discounts respectively!

Although, keep in mind that SiteGround’s purchase periods are not flexible enough. You can get a monthly plan, no problem – it’s just that you’d have to pay a pretty hefty setup fee, to begin with. If you wish to avoid the setup fees, plans available are only for 12, 24 or 36 months periods.

Overall, SiteGround is one of the top web hosting companies available as their ambition matches its quality. The company combines high-quality performance with an intuitive menu to offer a very good web hosting experience. It is not cheap but the price is certainly justified, there are loads of premium features included in even the cheapest of plans.

Add to that, their customer service is a step above everyone else in the business. Wait times for live chats, phone calls and tickets were practically non-existent and the representatives are skilled, knowledgeable technicians.

If you’re looking for quality, SiteGround has plenty of it.
